Puerto Rican-born star Carlos Ponce, whose acting, music and television career has made him a staple presence among Hispanic, U.S. and Latin American audiences over the past two decades will be honored with the Latinovator Award at Hispanicize 2013(http://www.HispanicizeEvent.com), the fourth annual Latino trends event, scheduled to take place at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach, April 9-13.

The Latinovator Awards recognize Latino celebrities, business professionals and other high achievers who have become crossover successes or whose stories of achievements are remarkable or inspirational.

Hispanicize 2013 is a partnership of the Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA), Hispanicize and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). Now in its fourth year, Hispanicize 2013 (http://www.HispanicizeEvent.com) (#Hispz13) is the iconic, largest annual event for Latino trendsetters and newsmakers in social media, journalism, advertising, PR, film, music and innovation. Hispanicize 2013 brings brands, media, marketers, celebrities, filmmakers, innovators and bloggers together in a unique creative environment focused on ideas and best practices.  The event is a launch pad for creative endeavors, new products, technologies, marketing campaigns, films, books and more targeting Latinos.

Since his first major television role with Univision in 1990, Ponce has appeared on U.S. PRIMETIME television shows such as “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “7th Heaven,” “Lipstick Jungle” alongside Brooke Shields, on multiple Spanish-language telenovelas and has been a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight.  His music career began in 1998, when Emilio Estefan signed on to produce his self-titled album, Carlos Ponce which reached number one in the Latin Billboards and was named Best Pop Album by Billboard Magazine.  Ponce has received multiple Platinum awards for record sales and as producer and songwriter for Chayanne‘s albums “Cautivo” and “No Hay Imposibles.” His 20-plus years career is still thriving today and his notoriety spans several countries.

Ponce has hosted the Spanish-language versions of “The Voice” and “American Idol” as well as the Walt Disney Christmas Day Parade, the Miss Universe Competition and multiple CBS primetime specials.  He has played voice roles in the animated film “Rio,” the cartoon TV series “Maya and Miguel“, and “Lady and the Tramp 2” and in the upcoming release of Tinker Bell and the Pirate Fairy.  Recently he also played the notable heartthrob fitness instructor Salvadore in “Couples Retreat” alongside Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau.

Ponce joins 2013 Latinovator recipients Soledad O’Brien and Beto Perez, co-founder of Zumba Fitness.  Altogether Hispanicize 2013 will name 6 recipients in total for the Latinovator AwardsPandora, the world leader in Internet radio, will present Ponce’s award to him.  Each of the innovators will be presented with their awards individually in person at Hispanicize 2013 as part of a special general session where they will talk about their inspirations, business habits and road to success.
