Ok readers if you missed Basel 2014 this year I would first like to inform you that you missed one hell of a party, second do not fret because I have a quick recap of various events, with pictures, for you to indulge in. Here is a chronological run down of the events:
Tuesday December 2nd
Morgans Hotel Group Kicks Off Art Basel Miami Beach 2014 with The Teepee Project, Art Markit and “Dinner Party” at Mondrian South Beach // Credit: Getty/Wire
Morgans Hotel Group kicked off its Art Week on Tuesday December 2nd, 2014 with the opening of The Teepee Project at Mondrian South Beach. With music by The Misshapes, Morgans Hotel Group CMO Alan Phillips welcomed guests to experience The Teepee Project curated by Eric Firestone and featuring two 22-foot hand painted teepees by artists Jen Stark and Misaki Kawai. On display on Mondrian’s bayfront pool deck through December 14th, The Teepee Project will be installed in various locations spanning the globe. Doreen Remen’s Art Markit Pop-Up Shop (where former “Friend” David Schwimmer was spotted browsing) and Vanity Project’s Pop-Up Nail Bar also kicked off Tuesday night and will be poolside at Mondrian through Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Following the Teepee Project launch party, Morgans Hotel Group and MUNCHIES, VICE Media’s food channel, hosted the Miami installment of “Dinner Party” with food by Chef Carlo Marirchi of Robertas, Brooklyn. “Dinner Party” gave guests the first preview of the décor of Mondrian’s new Mediterranean estaurant, La Savina, set to open in January.

Swiss-based Galerie Gmurzynska held a private dinner party in celebration of their 50th anniversary and collaboration on view at Art Basel, at LDV Hospitality’s Dolce Italian followed by an after party at Rec Room. Guests included Isabelle Bschr, Dirtecor of Galerie Gmurzynska, film director and producer Baz Luhrmann and his wife, Oscar-winning producer and costume designer, Catherine Martin. Other notables in attendance were Sean and Janice Combs, Timbaland, Cassie Ventura and Whitney Sudler-Smith. The evening started with the group mingling and enjoyed passed h’orderves, followed by an elegant sit down dinner and after-party at Rec Room.
Wednesday December 3rd

Usher hosted a dinner at Delano South Beachwith artists Daniel Arsham and Alex Mustonen of Snarkitecture. The dinner – held at the hotel’s Italian restaurant Bianca – was followed by an after party at the Le Baron 10 year anniversary popup at FDR. As he made his way to his dinner table, Usher told guests he couldn’t wait to eat and had been saving his appetite all day in anticipation of the meal. Before heading downstairs to Le Baron at FDR, Usher shared shots of tequila. Usher was helping celebrate Arsham and Mustonen’s “Marble Run” installation on display in the Delano lobby through Basel.
Michael Bay was also seen at Delano South Beach at the Bally’s Triangle Walks event.

Singer, musician and now DJ, Joe Jonas, arrived at the Surf Lodge @ Deauville Pop Up Wednesday night for the Galore Magazine party. Jonas hung out at his table with friends before hitting the decks. After some technical difficulty getting his equipment set up, he spun for a packed crowd for an hour set. The chill vibe of the Surf Lodge has landed at the Deauville Beach Resort for Art Basel.
Party Night- Morning: Miley Cyrus Put on a Show at 24Hour Club E11even
Miley Cyrus kicked it up a gear at Miami’s 24-hour show club, E11even Miami, last night following her performance at The Raleigh during Art Basel Miami Beach. The singer rolled in to the club with her boyfriend Patrick Schwarzenegger wearing a silver wig and black lace bra top. Feeling in the mood to keep performing, Miley hopped on stage with the club’s Michael Jackson impersonator and sang a rendition of Bille Jean while dancing with the scantly clad dressed entertainers. Leonardo DiCaprio was also spotted in the club’s party pit at the owner Dennis DeGori’s table with artists Mr. Brainwash and Alec Monopoly. Throughout the night the celebs enjoyed acts including a sexy Santa who went from full costume to an itsy bitsy bikini.
Thursday December 4th
Ended up at E11even!
Miley Cyrus made her way through Miami starting on Miami Beach and ending up at E11EVEN, the new go-to final stop of the night for Baselers. Clad in a neon pink and green fishnet Moschino outfit, Cyrus and boyfriend Patrick Schwarzenegger started out at the Bootsy Bellows pop-up at Shore Club where she joined Paul Oakenfold and David Arquette in the DJ booth.
Cyrus then showed up the 1OAK/Up&Down pop-up at LDV Hospitality’s Rec Room after 2am. Miley and friends were dancing and drinking around their table next to LDV Hospitality founder, John Meadow.
Cyrus was last spotted at E11EVEN (for the second night in a row). Though she was still accompanied by Schwarzenegger, she was seen making out with Paris Hilton. The three left, helping each other out, around 5:30am. Singer Miguel was also spotted partying at E11EVEN and Busta Rhymes walked in with his entourage at 6:30 am.
Super model Heidi Klum was spotted with Vito Schnabel at Albert Trummer’s Drawing Room Bar & Lounge at the newly renovated Shelborne Wyndham Grand for a cocktail reception celebrating “Heaven” by Vito’s sister Lola Schnabel hosted by Trummer. The cocktail chef was seen whipped up a specialty champagne cocktail with his signature elixer no 7 for Klum and her friends. Elsewhere Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire opted to kick back at a relaxing dinner at Bianca at Delano South Beach. At a table for 20, DiCaprio enjoyed spaghetti pomodoro and tuna pizza while Maguire ordered vegan penne pomodoro.
Among other celebs who made their way to the iconic Delano South Beach where FDR at Delano was hosting the Le Baron 10 year anniversary pop up event: Hip Hop mogul Russell Simmons enjoyed 50 Bleau cocktails and chatted with other partiers. Tennis icon Serena Williams arrived around 3am with a group of 12 friends and ordered a $7,000 bottle of Dom Perignon before heading out just before 5 am. Also, mystery graffiti artist Alec Monopoly and rapper Theophilus London.

Newlywed Solange Knowles was joined by Chloe Sevigny and Scout Willis at the Out of Order Party at the Deauville Beach Resort in Miami. Solange arrived around 12:30am through the back of the nightclub. After taking time to set up her equipment she hit the decks for an hour long DJ set filled with old school hip hop and Jay Z tunes. Paul’s Baby Grand and The Surf Lodge have taken over the Deauville Beach Resort through Sunday and will host multiple acts including TV on the Radio Saturday afternoon and GoldBar will pop up Sunday night to close out Art Basel.
Friday December 5th

At Delano South Beach, artists Snarkitecture and high end boutique Alchemist celebrated their artistic collaboration, AIRBALL. Actor, Adrian Grenier was spotted mingling by the side bar with girl friends and Robert Pattinson took over a cabana with girlfriend FKA Twigs. Virgil Abloh provided tunes for the evening following an epic performance from Theophilus London. Rappers A$AP Rocky,Wiz Khalifa and 2 Chains were also seen in the DJ booth and crowd supporting their friends who were performing.
Celebs out at about Friday
Russell Simmons – accompanied by an exotic, “smoking hot” female friend – at Mondrian South Beach on Friday afternoon. Simmons strolled the bay front property, which features 20-foot poolside tepees for Art Basel with “The Teepee Project,” and an Art Markit pop-up shop, where Solange Knowles was spotted shopping the same day.
Juxapoze Magazine hosted a dinner at the Surf Lodge at Deauville Cafe for artist Cleon’s birthday. Other artists in attendance include: Swoon, Shepard Fairey, Ron English. Cleo has the main installation at Scope Art air throughout the week. Miley Cyrus at Shore Club for the second night in a row, spotted at Nobu and the Bootsy Bellows pop-up at Redroom Friday night before heading to 24-hour show club E11even – again. Also there in the early AM hours, New York Giant Victor Cruz.
