Meet Ryan Marin: an extremely talented American visual artist and entrepreneur who is constantly striving to push limits with his art and originality. Ryan has also shown his artworks in various locations, galleries, and art shows all around the country. Ryan got involved in art from a young age. He was always inspired by old comics, giant monsters, science fiction, robots, heavy rock, and skateboarding. Ryan collected toys and he was drawing and recreating characters. He was into a lot of Jim Hensons work as well. At a young age, he was skateboarding, collecting some of the decks with cool graphics on them. He got into his first art show in kindergarten at the Florida state fair. Later he moved to New York where he had my crew out in Harlem “AWP Always With Paint” and his other crew “Built To Mob,” in Brooklyn. The writers always encourage his style and they were a group of artists with a lot of drive and motivation. Living in Bay Area for some time in San Francisco has opened up more of a community for him. He was brought up and hanging around some big names, which later influenced him to know he could make it as an artist doing this kind of thing and having fun. At this point, this is when Ryan knew wanted to do with his life: to influence people and meet others who share the same passion is always amazing.

“Art is everything for me. I am about figuring out a way to have fun and be me and work with the system to make it possible. Graffiti and art are my first thought when I wake up and the last one when I go to sleep. sometimes a lot of ideas just come out. I try to rest and I want to get up and make new pieces, ’cause I am afraid to loose it. Nothing in my life has sense if it isn’t related with art and graffiti. I can’t imagine how empty my life could be without it.”

-Ryan Marin

Some of his artistic influences are his friends and other artist and graffiti writers. It’s always nice to see paint and know other people are doing this. He feels a strong pull toward raising awareness about working with nature and changing the system. He loves exploring and adventure, getting to explore new environments preferably in the company of a good friend. Maybe they pack a lunch of waffles and go hit some spots. He wants to keep developing and learning new ways to do what he enjoys doing. The biggest obstacle for him, though, has been maintaining a balance. Keeping up with the times while traveling and adapting to the situations present. Managing all the things that fall under being an artist when all he really wants to be doing is creating and sending love. He tries to overcome the obstacles by just taking a breath and taking things one step at a time.

The most important advice Ryan has been given may come from a book his friend Ernie Reyes Jr. gave him: a book signed by the RZA called the Tao of Wu. “If you don’t find love in yourself, your heart will kill you, sooner in the streets but eventually everywhere” Happiness– which is total and complete satisfaction with yourself. This means you realize that nothing and nobody else can make you happy. Happiness is something you get from yourself. If you’re completely satisfied with yourself, nobody can take it away from you. Ryan’s most proud accomplishment to date would be manifesting control of himself and get to voice himself through visualization. He credits that to being surrounded by great friends and staying prepared. He also had a great time at ArtBasel last year, selling out his exhibition. The goal of his artwork is to keep learning and developing while inspiring others to be themselves. He likes to travel to new places and doesn’t mind a new challenge. He also wants to spread a message that raises and unifies our planets love for itself. It’s the only home we got.

Someone he would look forward to working with would be working with some of the bigger crews and artists like the weird crew or the collectives to do mural projects more POW WOW & Secret Walls. He also is planning on working with toy companies like Kid Robot in Japan. Ryan is also in their process of having a team of friends and influenced artist that can work together to do awesome projects and have fun. He believes that there should be more unity in the art world instead of all the cliques. Ryan’s art is all about the constant strive for originality, creativity, and expression. His paintings usually feature mixed media and an interesting slew of materials: Ryan is an artist who does not fear exploration and innovation. His exceptional approach to art, with his interesting choice of materials and flare, is a pleasure to observe. He is an artist who does not fear change or modernism. He understands how to pay great attention to detail when it comes to creating art. The effort and time that Ryan puts into every one of his paintings are unbelievable. He has a full mind of ideas and self-expressions like no other: being an artist in every sense of the word. He is extremely driven and motivated in creating and using an artistic eye in all that he sets his mind to.

Ryan is currently setting up a show today in San Francisco, which is like another home to him, here in the Bay. Last week he painted in The LES of Manhattan with the AllenStreet Collective. He is also updating my website and going to be releasing some t-shirts, which is exciting. He will be traveling to Colorado for Crush’16 and Mexico City in the next month and planning on making some sculptures… The contemporary art world is vibrant and booming like never before and it’s a twenty-first-century phenomenon, a global industry in its own right. Contemporary artists seek the power to astonish, satisfy and challenge: the legend of Ryan Marin’s artwork achieves all of these things. He showcases art that the public may not ordinarily have access to outside of a large urban environment within a welcoming, creative, and inspirational platform. As time goes on, Ryan will continue to delve deeper into the world of art by utilizing a wide range of mediums and taking an intimate approach to art direction and design. He will continue to build his brand and develop more designs and artwork. We all will be looking forward to seeing what Ryan accomplishes next with his limitless creativity!
