Meet Flávia Braun: a versatile and talented contemporary artist from Brazil, who’s work has been described as both striking and unconventional. Flávia’s work, no matter what medium she chooses, can only be described as nothing short of sheer genius. Her art is all about the constant strive for originality, creativity, and expression. She is a transformational artist who does not fear exploration and innovation. She constantly is mixing up her style and experimenting with her craft. Flávia’s exceptional approach to art, with her interesting choice of materials and flare, is a pleasure to observe. She is an artist who does not fear change or modernism. She understands how to pay great attention to detail when it comes to creating art, including its underlying meanings and purpose. She has a full mind of ideas and self-expressions, which is inspiring and up-lifting. She is an artist in every sense of the word and is extremely driven and motivated to push limits and boundaries in the art field.

Flavia Braun was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil. There she worked for four years in an advertising agency. When she was 21 years old she packed her bags and moved to California, to study English. Two years later she got into Santa Monica Community College in Los Angeles, and started to study Graphic Design. With three years experience in writing, graphic design, fashion design and illustration, Flavia has been granted endless inspiration and an eclectic palette with which she creates. Today she lives and works as a full-time painter, illustrator, and freelance designer in Miami, FL. She received a scholarship at Miami International University of Art & Design and graduated for her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts. Flavia is most driven to create for causes and communities she believes in. When she’s not designing, you’ll find her sliding in the sea, practicing yoga, gardening or making massive messes of health concoctions in the kitchen.

Flávia’s high vibrational art offers more than just a beautiful image. Each of her pieces tell a unique story and seeks to draw awareness to topics like cruelty-free consumerism and animal rights. Being a student, as well as a full-time painter, illustrator and freelance designer could be an overwhelming lifestyle to juggle, but not for Braun. Making a living producing art generates therapeutic benefits for the artist, especially when she’s getting messy and being her own boss. Just as Flávia has changed over the years, such as traveling to the US from Brazil to study English, so has her artwork. Currently she’s working on an animal series, which she describes as “painting them happy to transmit the idea of what they should be like: not suffering, not in a cage, (as well as) getting the audience to connect with them again since most of us spend so much time away from nature and animals.”

“I honestly have a constant battle with myself about my art concept. In my mind, I should be creating art to change the world. After years, I came to realize that my art can maybe change a little bit of someone’s world. I would attract and project the exact energy I want in life. I paint with bright, vibrant colors that inspire me to bring an unrealistic color palette into my artwork, breaking the rules with colors and shapes. I love to transmit beauty and harmony; after all, we need it a lot in today’s world. My hope is that my paintings simply bring a piece of joy to the homes they inhabit. My paintings oscillate between non-objective and figurative work. I really do think my paintings very much reflect who I am and what I’m attracted to in my everyday life. I am absolutely obsessed with flowers; I like to paint them in an abstract way so people can imagine their own, unique garden.” -Flávia Braun

Flávia’s work over the years has been exhibited in Art Basel, Young Artists Initiative, Secret Garden, Raw Art Show and Lily’s Light Foundation Painting, among others: and this is just the beginning for the young artist. The contemporary art world is vibrant and booming like never before and it’s a twenty-first-century phenomenon, a global industry in its own right. Contemporary artists seek the power to astonish, satisfy and challenge: the legend of Flávia’s artwork achieves all of these things. She showcases art that the public may not ordinarily have access to outside of a large urban environment within a welcoming, creative, and inspirational platform. She is a real artist of not only painting but of innovation, lifestyle and artistic interpretation. As time goes on, Flávia will continue to delve deeper into the world of art by utilizing a wide range of mediums and taking an intimate approach to art direction and design, building her brand and developing more designs and artwork. We will all be looking forward to seeing what she accomplishes next with her limitless style and creativity!
