Meet David Arms: a New York based artist shaking up the art world with his innovative custom hand painted fashion including designer brand jackets and clothing, jewelry, collages and more. Born and raised in Syracuse, New York, David Arms has been enamored by mythology, religion, and the pursuit of occult knowledge from a very early age. This thirst for sacred understanding coupled with a passion for self-improvement and a deep love for the ecstasy of creation has lead him charging uncompromisingly along the path of the artist.

Screen Shot 2016-05-09 at 1.54.55 AMSince moving to Brooklyn in 2010, David has shown his art in group exhibitions at The Living Gallery and Greenpoint Gallery in Brooklyn in addition to the first of PLAGUEspace’s floating galleries in Manhattan. David is represented by the amazing art manager and agent, Lynn Hutchins, who has been there to help build on his career with her expertise and experience in the art field: pulling all the strings behind the scenes for him. His work is purposeful, intricate, and sublime; both a practice of active meditation as well as an exercise in abstracting and playing with archetypal symbols common throughout differing cultures and schools of thought. Adept in a broad array of self-taught mediums including collage, jewelry design, and couture mask-making, he uses his abilities to help usher in a new era of enlightenment defined by a widespread renewed excitement for the underlying divinity that is ever-present in all things. As for his wearable art, Mr. Arms is constantly pushing the limits on the quality of garments that he paints: as we sat down for our interview, he told me that he just finished painting a Christian Dior jacket and is excited about painting more couture brands in the future to further push the boundaries of what he can design and create. A few weeks ago, David Arms was presenting his art among other artists and performers at an art event at Brooklyn’s Greenpoint Gallery where he found the new face for his brand: model and artist, Justin Bullock.

Justin Bullock is an African American male model born with blond hair and hazel eyes from the south Bronx NY, he also writes and performs music as well. Justin was discovered by a filmmaker by the name of Ari Marcopoulos, who offered Justin a chance to model for Adidas for a photoshoot, in which Adidas was collaborating with Nigo, one of the two creators of Bathing Ape. Since then Justin has walked in various fashion shows and has been in a bunch of music videos. In 2015 Justin collaborated with a gifted painter by the name of Margaret Bowland. Miss Bowland incorporated Justin in her gallery show titled “POWER” in Driscoll Babcock Gallery on 525w 25th street in New York. The gallery featured 4 paintings of Justin along with other people she had painted. And now adding onto Justin’s amazing resume: he presently represents David Arms custom hand- painted fashion and is currently working together with him on numerous projects for continuing to build the brand. I for one, cannot wait to see what they do next!
