We met for brunch in the lobby at the 1 Hotel in South Beach on a Wednesday afternoon. Shani James and her fiancé, the legendary musician, record producer and pop culture icon, CeeLo Green, had just finished a radio interview in Miami earlier that morning, leading up to CeeLo’s performance at the Faena theatre on April 25th. The power couple had ordered the classic combination of red wine and a cheese platter as CeeLo sat calmly to listen in on his fashionista fiancé’s interview with me. Miss James wore a baby pink matching set of trousers with a dainty overcoat with ruffle accents. Her pink diamond necklace sparkles as her diamond Rolex caught some light and danced around too. Brushed gold nails matched her brushed gold high heels. And then she complimented my mom’s gold shoes and suddenly I found myself feeling left out of the gold squad.

We went on to speak about Coco Chanel and Versace being her style inspirations as well as some new up and coming designers and fashion bloggers.

At first, one might thing that @KnowsStyleGia is ran by a woman named “Gia,” but actually: Gia is short for “Nostalgia,” which is the name of her vintage fashion collection. The collection owned by Miss Shani James, pays tribute to garments of the past, where she designs new clothes with a vintage twist. Shani’s not only puts on her own installment of fashion shows for LA Fashion week, she’s also a fashion spectator: sitting front row to watch the best of the best designers strut their newest collections, keeping her fashion mind sharp and updated for inspiration for her own collections that she designs.

The contemporary art world is vibrant and booming like never before. Contemporary artists seek the power to astonish, challenge and surprise: the fashion-forward movement of @KnowStyleGia achieves all of these things. As time goes on, she will continue to delve deeper into the beautiful world of fashion, designing and blogging by utilizing a wide range of outlets while taking a personal approach to art direction and purpose. Shani is a fashion addict and guess what? There is no rehab. She is doomed to be stylish and groovy and hilarious for the rest of her life.
