Steve and Majorie Harvey were supposed to host their fifth foundation Gala, but due to an family emergency they both could not attend. Steve however send out a thank you to all those who were in attendance. “Due to a family emergency, my wife & I are unable to attend tonight’s #SMHFGala! We love & appreciate you all. God Bless,” Harvey tweeted on his official Twitter page.
Their daughter Lori was involved in a horse-riding accident that same day in Lexington, Kentucky.
The benefit honored Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade and Holly Robinson Peete . Both of these individuals were honored for being great role models in their respective communities and helping anybody out in need.
The foundation sponsors national programs, including mentoring camps for boys and girls and scholarships to aid young people in their development. The Gala will benefit the many initiatives of the Harvey foundation including plans to build a family center in Dallas, Texas.
Even though the Harvey’s could not attend their Gala, the Gala was a great turnout and it represented what role models are suppose to look like and how they have affected their communities in a positive structure.
