SHANI JAMES PRESENTS KNOWSTYLEGIA VINTAGE COLLECTION • Stylist • Curator • Vintage Collector www.knowstylegia.com

A Journal Exploring, Exemplifying, & Honoring The Foundation Of Fashion

This adventure in art and antique item appreciation for Instagram’s @KnowStyleGia, AKA Shani James, began about five years ago while perusing around with her companion at the time. As their relationship developed, so did her passion for discovering these rare and beautiful treasures (falling deeply in love with both him and this new joy of hers). They found themselves scavenger hunting around the globe, and became regulars to most of the shops they found a special connection with.

“I was committed to my corporate objective when there came a fork in my path.” Says Shani, “faced with the option to continue on in the world of ‘business casual’ where I always just seemed to standout or join an amazing society of true fashion appreciators and collectors. Well, I think it’s obvious now which directions I took.”

Shani then went on to launch KnowStyleGia as a way to share her experiences, knowledge, and most of all appreciation for Vintage Style. Many are familiar with the word “nostalgia,” which refers to the sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations. This is the feeling Shani describes as she discovers, learns about, and purchases a piece from the 1920’s, 50’s, or 70’s for example. The spirit is like a friendly ghost that lives on in the fabric.

“It’s great because blogging gives me a platform to showcase some of my most amazing pieces. It also allows me to become a source for those who are equally as passionate or intrigued about the wonderful world of Vintage. Not mention I get to pull out my fabulous wigs…smile.”
