Under the “Art Basel” Umbrella, It’s Raining ART!

Have you started counting down the days to Art Basel Miami? The upcoming 2016 edition will feature 269 Galleries from North/South America, Europe, Asia and Africa, and over 4,000 artists inside the Miami Beach Convention Center.  Not only modern and contemporary art will be featured, but also the art of emerging artists.

Art Basel’s sophisticated cosmopolitan crowd of gallerists, artists, collectors, jet-setters and celebrities, mixed with Miami’s unique, upbeat energy, transform the Magic City into the place to be and be seen during the beginning of December!

Miami changes its outdoor landscaping and interior designs to host Art Basel: galleries, museums, some hotels, public parks and streets, are all transformed into art scenarios!  Miami emerges as the center of the universe during Basel.

The Art Basel umbrella spawns more than 20 satellite fairs, from  Brickell and Downtown to the upscale Wynwood Arts District, with all its galleries united in celebration of Miami Art Week.

One particularly special element of Miami’s Art Week is the plein air exhibitions, which attract not only art lovers but also winter sufferers from all over the world.

Since becoming a ‘thing’ in 2011, this outdoor artwork, initially clustered in Collins Park (in collaboration with the Bass Museum of Art)  includes sculptures, site-specific installations and performance art, all free and open to the public (and nature’s elements).

The Film sector of Art Week also features work in an outdoor setting (in addition to at the Miami Beach Convention Center).  In SoundScape Park, video art and installations are showcased by Wallcasting onto the Frank Gehry-designed  7,000 square-foot projection wall.

For event lovers, there is no place better to be.  If Miami is already a top event destination on a regular basis, during Art Basel, it becomes the only place to be, and be seen!

Red Dot, SpectrumScope, Art Concept, Art Spot, Art Miami Context and the elegant Miami River Art Fair, all launch amazing exhibitions and events beneath the umbrella known as Art Basel.
