The 15th edition of the famed Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) announced today that the Martin Scorsese cult favorite, Taxi Driver, is slated to celebrate its 40th anniversary on April 21st. The 1976 thriller, which stars Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster, Albert Brooks, Leonard Harris, Peter Boyle, and Cybill Shepherd, went on to receive critical acclaim, while earning four Academy Awards®, as well as two Golden Globes and the coveted Palme D’Or.

To properly commemorate the affair, Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster, Cybill Shepherd, and screenwriter Paul Schrader will host an interactive panel moderated by none other than Kent Jones following the screening of the Sony-restored and remastered box office classic.

“It’s a great honor for TFF to revisit Taxi Driver. I’m very proud to have worked on this film with Marty, Jodie, Harvey, Cybill, Paul, Michael and Julia, as well as the extraordinary cast and crew. I remain equally proud today,” recounts De Niro.

In the prophetic psychological drama, De Niro portrays a shrewd and visibly disturbed war veteran working the night shift as a cab driver in crime-laden New York City. Alienated and pegged against a world that socially exiled him, he lashes out in a series of events leading up to the climax. The plot unravels as he attempts to connect with a blonde office worker with whom he grows increasingly fond (Shepherd), and then with a young 12-year old prostitute named Iris (Foster) whom he tries to liberate from her predatory pimp “Sport” (Keitel) and her crude, street-walking vices.

Tickets will be available at beacontheatre.com beginning March 24th at 10 am EST.
